About the Stamp
2025 Canada Post stamp featuring Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas’ comic, RED
We are delighted to share that earlier today, at 4:00 p.m. EST in Montréal, Canada Post officially unveiled its newest national stamp series celebrating three of Canada’s leading graphic artists, and Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas is among the honourees.
This special-edition series highlights three artists whose contributions have expanded and redefined the field of graphic storytelling. The series recognizes artistic innovation, cultural impact, and the diverse visual languages that shape contemporary Canadian identity. Each stamp in the release showcases a signature artwork from the selected artists, paired with a short national biography and distributed across Canada in both standard and collectible formats.
RED: A Haida Manga
Michael’s stamp features a detillustration from his landmark graphic-novel-style publication RED, a work that continues to resonate for its inventive visual language, its social and political depth, and its role in establishing “Haida Manga” as a recognized artistic form. The stamp captures the dynamic, flowing linework and narrative intensity that have become hallmarks of Michael’s practice.
